Beneath each emotional, health, and spiritual challenge we face in life lies a story. In this experiential workshop you are invited to uncover these stories and discover the hidden treasures of hope, meaning, and even humor within your stories. We will explore through creative exercises the use of story to enhance the healing of body, mind, and soul, for ourselves and others. We will learn ways of bringing to our lives and our stories the wisdom found in traditional folk tales. Bios: Diane Rooks, M.Ed., is author of Spinning Gold out of Straw: How Stories Heal. She is a certified bereavement facilitator and serves on the advisory board of the Healing Story Alliance. She works with hospice, bereaved children, alternative schools, battered women shelters, juvenile detention centers and others to find meaning in their lives through stories. In keynotes and workshops for the health care community, Diane demonstrates the powerful connection between stories and healing.
Andre Heuer, D.Min., a licensed clinical social worker, is a teller, teacher, and a writer of story. Andre has 20 years experience creating, telling and evoking story with clients, artists, social workers, educators, health care and hospice providers, storytellers, psychotherapists and community activists. His work at Pathways for the last ten years includes teaching meditation, mindfulness and imagery. His work particularly focuses on using the energies of the stories found in the body to foster healing.
