Counseling/Psychotherapy Services
Even in high school Dr. Heuer knew that he wanted to be a psychotherapist. His parent's example was the inspiration for his choice of career. He saw his mother support and listen to her neighbors as they faced hard times and observed his father give a helping hand when needed. His career choice led to a masters in Pastoral Psychology, a doctorate in ministry and a license as an Independent Clinical Social Worker in July of 1971.
Dr. Heuer's commitment is to bring the fullness of his experience, skills and knowledge to his clients and support his clients in:

Dr. Heuer provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples and families who are:
- suffering from anxiety, stress and panic attacks,
- overcoming the effects of trauma from abuse, accidents, violence
- experiencing serious and chronic illness including end of life issues,
- dealing with the grief from the loss of loved ones, jobs and health,
- facing the challenges of relationships and family life,
- men questioning their life,
- interested in a spiritual dimension in their counseling experience,
- in need of a culturally aware and sensitive approach.
Dr. Heuer's experience in providing mental health services spans thirty-two years. His work in the United States includes working within counseling clinics, pastoral settings, corrections, employee assistance programs and a crisis center; and in Liberia and Thailand with organizations dealing with torture trauma. His academic education, experience additional training in imagery, narrative and psychomotor therapeutic methods laid a solid foundation for his clinical work and experience in the arts adds a creative dimension to his therapeutic skills.
